Commercial Grassing

Commercial grassing is the process of using hydroseeding equipment to spray a mixture over a large area to establish grass and prevent erosion on projects such as highway or commercial construction jobs sites.  The mixture contains grass seed, soil nutrients, absorbent material and water to introduce the selected grass in a optimum growing environment.  It is the most efficient and cost effective method to grass large areas.  Sod installation is available if required due to customer preference.

Residential Grassing

Residential grassing can be accomplished in several ways.  The first is through traditional techniques of spreading seed by hand, applying mulch, followed by fertilizer and then watering.  The second method is to install sod.  Sod will give the instant appearance of a lawn, but requires careful care and maintenance to ensure proper growth and a healthy lawn.  The third option is hydroseeding.  Like commercial grassing, it introduces the seed in a optimum growing environment and provides a cost effective method for the homeowner.  Each of these methods is a viable option, and Ballistic Hydroseed looks forward to discussing the best option for your lawn.

Mulching

Mulching is the application of straw or hay over the bare soil that has been seeded as a temporary erosion control measure until the seeds germinate and begin to grow.  The straw helps cut down on the disturbance of the seeds and soil during the germination and early growth stages.

Erosion Control Matting

Like mulch, erosion control matting helps prevent disturbance of the soil, but it is used on slopes due to the additional potential for erosion on elevated soil.  While more labor intensive than mulching, these pre-rolled mats have a higher density of straw and are ideal for changes in elevation where normal mulch would not be adequate.

Soil Testing

Soil testing is a essential component of any planting activity, from grass to gardens.  Soil test results provide the data required to complete a soil preparation plan including but not limited to nitrogen concentration, water retention, and pH levels.  Rather than wasting time and money aimlessly applying nutrients and selected seeds and crossing your fingers for results create a custom tailored soil plan for your grassing project.

Silt Fence

Silt Fence is a necessary element in keeping a project in compliance with regulations. It is a temporary sediment control device that helps ensure sediment from the project stays within the project limits.

Water Sampling

Water Sampling is the process of routinely taking samples and running chemical analysis to ensure project sediment is not entering streams and rivers. This is an extremely critical in understanding how water quality changes over time. Running certain tests can bring attention to an issue that may not be seen by the naked eye.
